Manchester City returns to Premier League action at Anfield on Sunday. The match kicks off at 4:30pm local time (15:30 GMT) under the shadow of recent financial misconduct findings.

An independent commission ruled that the club arranged “sham” deals to inflate revenues and cut costs by more than $1.2bn between 2009 and 2018. The violations spanned a nine-year period that generated substantial financial advantages for the squad.

Manchester City maintains its innocence and has filed a formal appeal against the verdict. The club continues to challenge the commission's conclusions through the proper legal process.

City secured three Premier League titles during the years the breaches occurred. Those victories cemented the club's status in English football and extended its trophy dominance.

Liverpool supporters are expected to react strongly when the visiting team arrives. Stadium officials will prioritize crowd management and security ahead of the kickoff.
